Vit Horejs ( pronounced
HOR-shezz), the founder of the Czechoslovak-American Marionette
Theater, has adapted Faust with old-fashioned artistry--
he and his fellow puppeteers use century-old wooden marionettes -- and
contemporary humor.
In a production which was
as much dance performance as marionette theatre, the interaction
between puppeteers and puppet was fascinating...The Golem
was staged with sensitivity, dedication and tremendous energy.
